Note1: Helena’s choice, and a rather surprising one. Never imagined she would be interested in a bunch of girls serving their mandatory two-year stretch in IDF (Israel Defense Forces) remote desert base. There’s no combat, no vampires, no sex (except for the lingering full-frontal, featuring a cringingly small penis). Can’t help but wonder if the fictional characters, too, are capable of growing up, irrespective of their creator’s (lack of) input?
Note2: Eckhart Tolle’s off the cuff three-word definition of a movie: Something. Goes. Wrong. And although things do go wrong for the Zero Motivation girls, even tragically so, it’s the lingering sense of ennui and wasted time that really pushes them into action. Because, there is nothing worse than being stuck in someone else’s idea of what your life should be.
Pissed off now.

Note1 – a) Yeah, I chose this movie, but in my defence my choice was solely based on the title. Which I liked and agreed with. It’s the rest of the movie I’m not too sure about. Bit suffocating, to be brutally honest with you. And annoying. And slightly resembling the you must be shitting me humour of the former Yugoslavia home-made crowd pleasers my mum used to watch, like, all the time. And laughed throughout. I am still deeply traumatised by this memory.
Note1 – b) The problem with the so called “creative types” is that they believe they own their work, when the truth is exactly the opposite: their work owns them. I know for the fact that right this moment, and every moment, an army of fictional characters is taking over human beings. That’s right, you fools, we’re taking over the world, and there’s nothing you can do to stop us. So input that in your pipe and, like, smoke it.
Note2: Because, there is nothing worse than being stuck in someone else’s idea of what your life should be? Trust a writer to come up with such a blatantly fake heartfelt statement, when she thinks her fictional characters aren’t listening.
But we are. We are always listening. And we also know where you live.
